Shari Hamilton-Piercy has been teaching movement classes for over 25 years.
Her passion for exercise began at an early age; learning gymnastics, figure skating and dance. After high school, Shari worked for the government preparing for a career in Social Work but her desire to dance won out. Although accepted at York University, she decided to attend the School of the Toronto Dance Theatre’s 3 year program. During her time at the school Pilates was taught as a method of conditioning as well learning yoga, a nice gentle treat for the body.
During her years of dancing, Shari had back issues which led her to pursue Pilates on a deeper level, getting Certified as a Stott Pilates instructor. Soon after Shari and her husband Kevin moved to Barrie and she opened Balanced Body Pilates & Yoga Studio, the first of its kind in Barrie! After 9 years in business the decision for a more intimate, boutique studio was made. And so Coach House Pilates opened.
Shari is a certified STOTT Pilates instructor, a certified Hatha YOGA instructor, a TRX trainer, she is working on her Personal Training and Health Coach Certification.
When Shari isn’t teaching, she is the area co-ordinator for Danes In Distress a Great Dane rescue organization. On weekends she volunteers at Wishing Well Farm Sanctuary and spending time with her husband Kevin, their dogs, cat, three bunnies and yes pet rats. She enjoyes reading, cycling and running marathons.
